Safety Motivation Presentations

Safety motivational presentations are extremely powerful, this approach is carefully constructed to achieve defined results. Learning outcomes are threaded through a story, with an intention to internally motivate the audience to have a renewed passion to understand and participate in risk management and the safety conversation.

The story is a personal journey. Beginning with a workplace injury; the conscious removal of the scalp and a portion of the face after becoming entangled in a turning augur of a drilling rig. Broken neck, staph infection and post-traumatic stress, all part of the journey back.

This type of approach is very effective for organizations wanting to improve culture. Invigorating the essence of leadership and the trajectory of the organization. Engagement in safety vision as well as safety management systems.

The importance of critical thinking when working with risk, is a pillar in the motivational presentation and is practical learning, for participants. Referring to recent research, while using frontline language. Discussion of differing personality types, and how they perceive risk, social psychology of risk incorporating the recent thinking in study of symbols (semiology), risk fundamentalism, and positive systems of communication.

The time frames are defined by the host organization. The most popular keynote time frames are one or two hours, the motivational presentation is followed by a site observation and coaching. Participants are normally quiet after a presentation, the intimate approach during safety observation walks is very effective to start conversation or offer compliance advise.

The safety motivational presentation is shocking, amusing, thought provoking, and inspirational. Participants will be asked if they believe they can be injured, are they prepared to accept doubt as an opportunity to learn.

Safety Road Show

Safety roadshows are a popular approach with large projects. They have their own rhythm, and can include, multiple short toolbox learning sessions, as well as more formal keynote presentations. Often the host organization will have concerns around aspects of risk management which is intertwined into the talking points.

Wherever possible; talking to people in their own environments. Fostering learning to happen at the time the participant workers are accustom; night shifts happen at night.

Safety motivation work, it is an attempt to create an information cascade, allowing the participants to come to their own conclusion. Internally motivate change, their idea.

These types of programs are designed to reiterate, the reality; nobody wants to be hurt, and the importance of open conversation in risk. Together with the host organization’s purpose.
